Choosing Playhouses for the Children
Sunday, June 8th, 2008Timber playhouses offer a child a chance to allow their imaginations to soar and while away many a summers afternoon playing in one. Luckily for parents they have a number of different styles and sizes of playhouses that they can select from. So finding one that their children will have hours of fun with is not that difficult.
Actually purchasing such an item is extremely easy a visit to your local garden centre or DIY store and they will have a number of different designs that you can select from. Also if you find that you do not have the time then a quick search of the internet will provide you with some ideas as well. A lot of the playhouses that are currently available come in prefabricated kit form and can easily be installed by you as they come with a good set of instructions as well.
Although a readymade ready to assemble playhouse is good a custom made one offers you much more scope on the actual design and layout of it. Yes these kinds of playhouses do cost more but the workmanship that goes into them means that they are sturdy and strong and will cope with whatever your children choose to put them through.
Once you have decided on whether you are going for a custom or prefabricated playhouse you now need to take other factors into consideration before you make your purchase. Below we look at just what these are and which should help you with selecting the right playhouse for your children.
The first that you need to decide upon before anything else is where you are going to locate it in your garden. Once you know which position it will be in then you can choose the size and design that you want. Ideally place the playhouse in a position within the garden that the children can easily have access to it, but also somewhere that you also have unfettered views. Plus you should place it in a location within the garden that throughout the day natural sunlight is on it.
Once the location has been chosen you now need to make a decision on just what size of playhouse you want built. If you intend to install anything over 100 sq ft then you may well need to seek permission from your local authority to do so. Also before you purchase the playhouse depending on its size it might be advisable to see if your neighbors are bothered about such an installation or not.
Remember the size of playhouse you choose for your child should be one that will meet their requirements not only at the time when it is installed but as they grow up. Although prefabricated ones are cheaper, the custom built models are far more likely to meet these requirements and save you money in the long run as you are unlikely to need to replace it in the future.
So you have chosen where the playhouse is going to be located and the size, now you need to decide on what style you want. This of all the factors that you have to take into consideration when selecting timber playhouses for your children is going to be difficult. It therefore may be wise to actual allow your children some input at this stage as to what they want. Then not only will you be happy but they will be as well.
