You wouldn’t know you’re already alcoholic until you have to be sent to a rehabilitation center, and this is because you you are enjoying too much drinking. But enjoyment, no matter how it makes you happy, can always be dangerous. Here are some signs to know when you’re already in a risky situation.

When you don’t even need friends, and you don’t need an environment with many people drinking, but still choose to drink, and alone at that – you may be an alcoholic. Drinking alone is no laughing matter. It shows how much you want to drink so badly.

If you’re young and you’re not allowed to drink yet you still drink, that may be a sign of alcoholism. For example, you always skip going to school and you go to some place to drink with anybody or alone. This means that rules don’t matter to you anymore, just having your fix of alcohol.

Alcoholics will do anything to justify their bad drinking habits. If you make up illogical reasons why you believe you function better with alcohol in your system, then you’re definitely an alcoholic. You might even believe than beer is like a vitamin supplement for you. You such beliefs are ridiculous, yet you still hold on to them because they justify your addiction.

When you feel the need to drink because time or work would not allow you to, but still choose to drink secretly – you may be an alcoholic.

When you start to develop alcoholism, it’s hard for people not to notice the changes in you. Pretty soon, people who care about you will confront you about it. If you get furious or hate them because of it, then that’s another sign you’re already an alcoholic. It means you’re ready to put your alcohol dependence over people who deeply care for you.

Then you start losing your appetite for food. Somehow, foods you love don’t taste as good as before. And those that you didn’t find special before, there’s no way in the world you’re eating them now. You’d rather have alcohol three or more times a day. This behavior is a sure sign of alcoholism.

Alcoholism will not only alter your behavior, it will also modify your physical self. First, you will start skipping bath times and then you don’t take them at all. Your hygiene becomes very poor, and people start getting disgusted of you because of it.

Finally, your own health will be compromised. Without alcohol intake, you shiver and shake. You feel like you’ll go crazy or like you’ll die. And the truth is, you can die of alcoholism if you don’t counter it, either through physical degeneration or you’ll do something unnecessary and put yourself in mortal danger.

You may deny it like every alcoholic does, but acceptance alone is already a sacrifice that is worth a better life.
